Step 1. To become a candidate, apply online at the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards website.

Step 2. Pay the $65.00 processing fee and the $500.00 non-refundable application fee online.

Step 3. Contact Anne Marie Roberts at the Colorado Department of Education to apply for $1,000 in federal funding to help offset the cost of the application fee. Note: Funds are available on first come first served basis. Contact Anne Marie Roberts at roberts_a@cde.state.co.us.

Step 4. Upon submission of the information for federal funding to Anne Marie Roberts, she will allocate $1,000 in federal funding if it is still available. Upon allocation of federal funding, you will receive a form to apply for state matching funds of $1,000. Note: Funds are available on first come first serve basis.

Step 5: Mail or fax the state matching funds form to:
